Modeling to Support Decision-Making for Cervical Cancer Prevention
Alykhan Vira of Quantium Health in South Africa will establish a project across partner organizations in South Africa, Tanzania, and Nigeria to identify trends in cervical cancer disease burden and model the impact of interventions to inform the design of national HPV immunization programs and health policies. Partners include the National Cancer Registry in South Africa, the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, and Pathfinder International in Nigeria. They will consolidate existing national data on the burden of disease and HPV vaccination, screening, and treatment coverage. They will then use national policy guidelines to develop a modeled view of HPV vaccination, screening, and treatment, overlaying uptake with predicted demand and service delivery capacity. This will be used to model the impact of new programs for cervical cancer prevention. They will also develop an open-source interactive platform to communicate data trends and model outputs, supported by Large Language Model-based tools.
